Prof. Emmananuel Akyeampong will deliver the 2018 Aggrey-Fraser-Guggisberg Memorial Lectures on the theme "Nkrumah and the Making of the Ghanaian Nation-State"on the 15th and 16th of March, 2018 at the Great Hall, University of Ghana.

Mr. Paul maritz and a delegation from Harvard University and University of Washington visited IIAS on 8th December, 2017. In attendance was the Executive Director of the institute, Prof. Emmanuel Akyeampong and other fellows of IIAS. Prof. Akyeampong used the opportunity to express profound gratitude to Mr. Maritz for his contribution and support in the formative years of IIAS. He also reiterated the commitment of the institute to independent research anchored on proferring solutions to African problems from the perspectives of African scholarship.
The Centre Ivoirien de Researchers Economiques et Sociales (CIRES) in colloaboration with the International Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) organised a Policy Forum at Abidjan from 28th - 29th September, 2017. This forum was put together to provide some empirical evidence under the Growth and economic Opportunities for Women (GrOW) program commissioned by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada. In attendance were the Canadian Ambassador, Ministers of Industry and Mines & Women, Child Protection and Solidarity.
As part of the Growth and Economic Opportunities for Women (GrOW) project funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and being undertaken by IIAS in collaboration with CIRES, Ivory Coast, a Midterm workshop was held to present findings made on 14th June, 2017.
